Hey everybody,
-Written by Adilfa Ford-

Like I said at the meeting I'm new to "blogging" so I hope I am doing this right. I want to welcome everybody and say hi. I think most of you know me already but for those that don't I want to tell you a little about myself. Actually this is a preview to the presentation we were going to give at the last meeting but didn't get time for so I hope everybody can be there when we do that, probably in August. My name is Adilfa Ford and I was born in the small town of La Luz, Venezuela, actually not even in the town, it was on a farm close to the town, so you could say I come from very humble beginnings. I never would have dreamed of a career as a photographer as I could not have ever imagined it at the time. Anyway, long story how I met my husband and ended up in Salt Lake City, Utah, maybe I'll tell it sometime but sorry, not today. I started in photography about 16 years ago, again long story but it's part of our program so don't miss it. I immediately joined the Intermountain Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) when I started on the recommendation of my photography instructor and it was best thing I ever did. Through the IPPA I was able to learn from some of the best photographers in the world, past, present and future. Don Blair, Frank Cricchio, Stewart and Susan Powers, Monte Zucker, Drake Busath, Dave Newman, Hansen Fong, Doug Box, David Jay, Robert Lino, Tim Kelley, and Michael Taylor to name a few. From them I learned the importance of continuing education and association. I remember watching Don Blair just months before his death taking notes in the back of the room, learning from someone who wasn't even born when he started teaching. I am a firm believer in sharing and learning from each other. Through association, whether it's IPPA, WPPI, PPA, or the Pictage PUG we fine tune our talent and give back to our community. I am honored to have been asked to be the PUG leader and hope that I can live up to the commitment. The schedule is going to be a little bit messed up for the first few meetings and I apologize for that but I have some prior commitments that will take me out of the country on the regular day. I am still trying to get the e-mail list from Davina but will hopefully get that later today or tomorrow so I can announce the first meeting. I will also try to keep this blog updated. See you at the next meeting.

PS. I don't have time to hang out the forums too much but if anybody ever has any questions give me a call or an e-mail and I would be happy to help with whatever I can.
